Walking holidays in the French AlpsThe Abondance valley, situated on the Chablais massif between lake Geneva and the Switzerland, is one of the most beautiful valleys in the French Alps. It is unspoilt by winter tourism, remains a thriving farming community and has some of the best Alpine walking routes. From a tour of the Mont de Grange or a climb up the Cornette de Bise to some gentle low lying walks overlooking lake Geneva or some high pastures rambles, this area has something to offer everyone from the experienced walker looking for some new challenges to the family group that want to take in the beauty of the region.
During the spring and summer months the mountains are covered with numerous bright flowers, abundant with wildlife from an amazing range of birds and butterflies, to chamois and marmottes and of course the constant song of the cow bells ring out as they make the most of the summer pastures. Plus there are many other activities that you can try – see Summer Information section.
A walking holiday based at la Ferme du Chateau is about flexibility.
You can stay on a B&B basis or full board which includes breakfast, picnic lunch, afternoon tea and 3 course evening meal with wine.
You can choose to have a self guided or guided holiday or a mixture of the two.
We can include all transport (transfers and in resort) or you can drive yourselves.
We also have a laundry service which means that you do not need to bring tons of walking clothes, give us your dirty stuff and you will have it returned within 36hrs.
If you would like to see a sample of the types of walks available in the region please email christine@savoiefaire.co.uk and I will send you a PDF file of some of the walks.
